How to Order Cheque Books Through SBI Online Banking?


Finance Guru Speaks: This article will provide you information on how you can request or order Cheque Books through your Online SBI facility. You can request for a Cheque book for any of your accounts (Savings, Current, Cash Credit, Over Draft)

You can order for Bearer Cheques or Order Cheques.

Difference between Bearer Cheque and Order Cheque:

Bearer Cheque: A person holding the cheque can collect the amount if it is a bearer cheque.

Order Cheque: The payee (i.e. the person in whose favour the cheque is issued) only or his authorized person only can collect the amount of the cheque if it is an order cheque.

How To Order Cheque Book for Single City Option:

1.     Login to SBI Online Banking facility.




 2.     Click on “Requests” Tab and then click “Cheque Book” option present in the left hand side, as shown below:

  
3.     Select your Account No. Fill the details as –

Multi City Option * : No
Number of cheque Books * : 1 or 2
Number of cheque Leaves * :  25 or 50
Instrument Sub Category * :  Bearer Cheque or Order Cheque

4.     Click on Submit button
  

How To Order Cheque Book for Multi City Option:

You can request for Multi City option facility for your cheque book.

Multi City Cheques are payable at par at all SBI branches.

Note: Charges at the rate of Rs.3/- per leaf for multi city cheques will be recovered from your account. Also, the number of cheque leafs would be 25 in case of Multi City option cheque book.

Steps for ordering Multi City option Cheque Books are as follows:-

1.     Login to SBI Online Banking facility.

2.     Click on “Requests” Tab and then click “Cheque Book” option present in the left hand side. 



3.     Select your Account No.  Fill the details as –

Multi City Option * : Yes
Number of cheque Books * : 1
Number of cheque Leaves * :  25
Instrument Sub Category * :  Bearer Cheque or Order Cheque

4.     Click on Submit button

Terms and Conditions by SBI for Multi City Option Cheques facility:

1.     The Multi City Cheque(MCC) facility is payable at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI). The list of branches is available at Bank's website (www.sbi.co.in), branch/ area/ city-wise,under ‘locators'.
2.     The MCC facility is to be used only for bonafide transactions/ purposes.
3.     No cash payments will be made on MCCs favouring third parties.
4.     Payment of MCC will be made at our branches through the cheque leaf issued for the same and if it is in order, subject to availability of clear balance/ funds / drawing power in the account and signature of drawer(s) tallies with the mandate and signature(s) available in the CBS system.
5.     The service charges for issue/payment/return/stop payment instructions in respect of MCCs,as fixed by the Bank, are payable from the respective account from time to time. SBI may change /Modify the service charges associated with MCC facility periodically. Applicable charges can be ascertained from the Bank's website and also from the branches.
6.     The Bank has the sole discretion to decide to provide / continue/ terminate the facility or reject the request for MCC facility at any point of time without assigning any reason whatsoever.
7.     The account holder(s) will indemnify the Bank against any third party claims, loss or damages caused to the Bank due to his/ her/ their negligence or fraud by any third party in respect of MCC facility granted.
8.     All unused cheque leaves will have to be returned to the branch, before closure of account or on discontinuation of the MCC facility.
9.     The Bank shall have no obligations to any third party including any beneficiary other than the account holder for the execution of any MCC payment instruction.
